The Immortal Keef

Long live Keith Richards! He will outlast us all! The face that has launched a thousand memes. What kind of a world are we going to leave him?

I love Keith and Mick and The Rolling Stones. They have always been in my life and I am grateful that we still have some of them with us.

I choose this particular shot for reference because I Keith looks tough, indestructible. I’m guessing from the hard look in his eye that this was taken by some paparazzi photographer intruding on one of his days off. I didn’t quite capture that sharp look, the eyes I drew look more weary and sad, which might be a bit of self-portraiture leaking into the drawing.

I called it “KEEF”, because I understand that is Keith’s nickname. I feel enough affection for the dude and his music that’ll risk using that nickname here, but if I ever get to meet him in real life, it would be all “Mr. Richards, sir”!

This is a study for some larger project, that I will say no more about just now. I just need to get the visual vocabulary of Mr. Richards into my brain.
