Here is my reference image, Lionel Atwill as the villian, “Ivan Igor” from the 1933 “Mystery of the Wax Museum”.

I love the bold lighting; classic horror movie lighting from below. I choose this image because it also made me think of Francis Bacon paintings; all that texture in the face. Thos strong shadows also brought Jack Kirby’s style to mind, so I went forth with brush and ink to try and get some of that flavor. I like the results, but I think I’ll take another run at this one some time with ballpoint pen so I can get all of those juicy tiny details in there. Here is my version…
